Arts Canterbury Juried Show: 10 Oct – 5 Nov

Opening Event: 5.30-7pm Monday 10 October 2022.

Arts Canterbury members are encouraged to submit their best artworks for the annual juried exhibition. This year three independent jurors have selected 33 artworks from 23 local artists.

The jurors for 2022 are:

Jenna Ingram – Jenna is the Co-owner and Director of Fiksate Gallery, New Zealand’s leading urban contemporary art gallery. Jenna has a BFA in Painting and creates abstract portraitures under the alias ‘Jen Heads’, a style and character which she has developed over six years and continues to explore. 

Jon Salton – Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, Jon is a fine art panoramic landscape photographer. Jon runs F-stop Image & Frame, specialising in photo restoration, printing and picture framing.

Gwyn Hughes – Gwyn is an artist specialising in portrait and landscape art. He has won several awards in New Zealand for both landscapes and portraits. In 2020 he won ‘Peoples’ Choice’ at the Adam Portraiture Award and more recently was ‘Runner Up’ in the Adam Portraiture 2022.

The jurors will each be selecting one artwork to receive a ‘Juror’s Award’.

Eastside Gallery will be selecting one artwork to receive the ‘Eastside Development’ award.

One artwork will be chosen by the jurors to receive an award for ‘Excellence in Fine Arts’. 

These awards will be presented at the opening on the 10th of October.

The public will then have the opportunity to vote for the ‘Peoples’ Choice’ award.

he art class at the CWEA are enthusiastic and curious individuals. All are in search of ways to express a lifetime of visual experience. Over the year, they have been looking to find the right tools to craft painting into becoming a means through which to develop their own visual language. The show features the work of 8 different artists.
